Pricing math, the right staff, seasonings, and the wasabi hammer.

Post-DLC pricing structure (two-week ledger re-test)
| Slot | Cost | Price | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Traffic seats (bulk small fish) | Near-zero cost | Low price | Turnover engine. Never raise — their job is the doorway |
| Backbone (tuna family) | Mid | Mid | One-fish-three-dishes conversion king; the menu's spine |
| Ceiling (deep rarities) | High | High | Ticket top. All-in on reservation nights |
| Hidden dishes (non-fish) | Luck-based | High | Menu expansion keys — finding a new ingredient beats catching a rarity |
| Jungle cuisine (DLC) | All-new | High | Herbs + river fish: a zero-competition category; scarcity pays early |
📒 Re-test verdict: post-DLC mid-tier fish +12%, staff wages effectively -8% — hiring moved from luxury to correct investment. Every 2023 pricing post is now wrong; do not copy them.
Staff & scheduling (relative value improved post-DLC)
| Type | Role | Note one | Note two |
|---|---|---|---|
| Server type | Plating + orders | Your first hire should be one of these | Low morale = dropped plates (real mechanic) |
| Kitchen type | Prep & rescue | Bancho is one man; rush hour jams | Morale links with Bancho (details on Story page) |
| Part-timers | Cheap hourly, flexible slots | Party-day firefighters | Keep them off hidden dishes — mastery does not carry |
| DLC jungle hands | New skills, river fish prep | Mandatory for jungle cuisine | Recruitment triggers mid-river |
The wasabi folklore archive (cute but useless section)
Tap the wasabi hammer three times at rush
Verdict: No effect (30-player, two-week control, zero turnover difference)
Origin: One of the three great legends; testers kept tapping after — "my mood objectively improved"
Say good work to Bancho's knife
Verdict: No effect. But Bancho gains an extra line the next day
Suspected morale easter egg; sample too small
Origin: Highest-voted folklore on the message wall
Closing on rainy days spawns hidden guests
Verdict: No effect (rain guests are story-triggered, unrelated to closing)
Origin: Debunked by the lore crew, resurrects in the beginner thread monthly
The party reservation survival manual
- 01T-1 day: confirm menu slots (party guests draw from 1.8x the usual pool — every extra page is insurance).
- 02Morning of: targeted diving. Party pool only; do not get seduced by passing rarities.
- 03Before service: max staff morale (raise or encourage). Nine of ten party wipes are early staff collapses.
- 04Mid-rush: if Bancho jams, run plates yourself. The owner serving tables adds tips — hidden in the feel, nobody has pinned the number.
- 05After: party tips settle on overall satisfaction — one grade off is one tier off. Debrief before celebrating.
▸ Parties are this game's finals: pricing, prep and scheduling all get graded in a single evening.
